We always recommend considering public transport and now that Swanage Railway is linked to the main line you can travel all the way to Swanage in style.

Swanage By Coach

National Express also run coaches into the town centre and their timetable can be found here.

Swanage By Car

If you are travelling by car, it is best to avoid peak arrival times in the summer. If its a sunny day aim to reach Swanage by 9.30 to avoid the worst of the traffic and then leave after 6pm. Parking info can be found here, which also details EV charge points, though alot of accommodation providers also include an EV charge point.

Swanage Walks

This is an excellent resource which details lovely Swanage walks. You can walk along Swanage beach but during the summer holidays and hot weekends the beach is best enjoyed at the shoreline. From Oct – April the beach can also be enjoyed by dog walkers. Visit our Swanage beach page for more info.

Biking in Swanage

Sadly Swanage does not have any dedicated cycle routes and the main roads to get busy with pedestrians in the summer. We recommend venturing out into the Isle of Purbeck and enjoying some of the quieter country roads.
