Swanage Beach

Swanage’s Blue Flag beach runs from the town centre all along Shore Rd and out to the World famous Old Harry Rocks. It is a sandy beach with a shallow shelf running out into Swanage Bay, making it a safer batheing area. The beach is really popular with families as it has excellent facilities.

Toilets and showers are located near the Shore Rd beach huts. Here you will find baby changing facilities.

You can hire pedalos and deck chairs throughout the summer months. Shops and cafes open all year and provide an excellent range of choice. Harlees fish and chip shop overlooks the beach as does the Mowlem cafe. Beachfront arcades and adventure playground also overlook the tranquil waters.

Though the summer months Shore Rd is closed to all traffic, which makes this end of the beach much more relaxing. Parking information can be found here.

Shore road is closed for one special weekend when Swanage Carnival parades along the beach. Quoted as the South’s largest carnival – it really is a spectacle to behold. Swanage town has a huge variety of events to choose from.
